This article appears at a timely juncture in the long history of education, when teachers worldwide have suddenly been forbidden to meet their students and forced to teach at a distance. While many may struggle to conduct their English classes as closely as possible to how they had taught them in the classroom, distance education via the Internet has additional affordances that, in some ways, can result in more effective learning. This article, which focuses on “Cooperative Learning,” explains one such approach to learning that can work well in distance learning and hopefully continue to be implemented once teachers return to their traditional classrooms.
